My debt, in terms of Credit Card and Overdraft debt now stands at:
£4344.96
This year, if you include both what I have paid towards my credit cards/overdraft and clearing the debt I accrued to the boy this year, comes to:
£2772.11
So in theory I could reach my goal debt free date of my 30th Birthday in 18 months time.
In January when I set my goals for the year I wanted to have cleared one credit card and £500 of my overdraft.
I reached that goal by May.
So I reset it, wanting to have cleared my overdraft by the end of the year.
I think this is a very common thing for people to do, they reach one goal, so they set another.
The trouble is I, and maybe people in general, don’t do enough to celebrate achieving the first target they set. And resetting the goals just invites you to feel bad about yourself if you don’t achieve it, when you had already achieved something in the first place.
I know all this, yet still I am launching operation >£4k which is to get my debt under £4000 by December 31st 11:59pm.
In theory I was heading that direction anyway.
But now I might lose my job.
So I could be kind to myself, and just do what I can, but being kind to myself isn’t in my programming. So I set the goals, and one way or another I will achieve it.
